Baby showers are so much fun! But even more fun is picking out the Baby Shower Gifts. Whether you are pregnant and making your first list. Second or third time mom having a sprinkle for you or just trying to make your own list. Or maybe you have a pregnant friend or relative and are debating what to get them. I hope this list is helpful to you. There are two different ways to go with gifts for a new baby, both are awesome, but different approaches. You can go the useful approach and get practical gifts a mom really needs for a new baby. Or you can splurge and get the mama something fun she wouldn’t necessarily get for herself but would find really fun.
Make sure you enter in the giveaway below for an adorable Organic Panda Rattle Baby Toys by Estella which would make a great Baby Shower Gift.
1. Baby Gear
Any developmental baby toys for up to one year. Rattles, lots of teething toys, stacking cups (my favourite!), O-Balls, and loveys. Plus nice muslin receiving blankets. These can double as a swaddling cloth, burp cloth, blanket, nursing cover, carrier cover, blanket for tummy time, picnics, and the ground outside. What do you like to give as a #babyshowergift? 2. Baby Clothes
Go for bigger sizes. Most people give newborn and 0-3 months. My kids were BIG babies and big kids, they grew out of both those sizes by four weeks. Make sure you are buying clothes that are safe to wear in any season. You never know what size baby will be, some are true to size, some are months/years ahead or behind. So to be safe stick to safe clothes like baby onsies, maybe light pants or sweaters, t-shirts, and of course sleepers. Little hats are safe at any season, even in summer outside it can be cold (especially while camping) so hats are a great gift. Cute little geeky hats are fun for newborn photo shoots if you know their shows (Zelda, Firefly, Star Wars, etc.) to give them as a baby shower gift.
3. Baby Carrier
These make great gifts for a newborn. Any mom would be happy to have a carrier. A stretchy carrier like a Wrapsody Water Wrap (my fav for the newborn stage) or a Moby are perfect. A more structured carrier like a Beco or Tula make great gifts, but are harder to buy for another person without trying on. A gift card for a carrier is a safe present, or asking her if she has one on her list. Check out my post on my favourite carriers here.
4. Home made Gifts
If you can knit a blanket, make chewlery necklaces, Pacifier Clips, quilts, hats, or other baby gifts those are really fun and super thoughtful. A hand-made gift always lets them know you are thinking of them and made it for them especially. Plus how could baby not feel the love while surrounded by gifts made just for them? What are your favourite #babytoys to give a new mom? Check out ideas for #babyshowergifts here. Click To Tweet
5. Gift Baskets
Put together gift baskets for the new mom. Whether it is a breastfeeding basket, medicine kit, early feeding gear, bath time tools, etc. Everything is so helpful to a new mom to help set her up with tools she may need. I am a personal favourite of the breastfeeding basket because you always need that stuff as a new mom and having it all in the same spot is a life saver when you sit down for a marathon cluster feeding session. A Medicine Kit (check out the link above for ideas to include) is worth it’s weight in gold when you have a sick baby at 2:00 am when all the pharmacies are closed or you are stuck alone with baby.
Whether mom is cloth diapering or disposable diapering, she is going to need tons. Don’t stay to small sizes like newborn, go for size 1 or 2 in disposable or cloth diapering one size ones. Diaper cakes are super cute if you are a crafty kind of person and want to make it. They also make great centerpieces at a baby shower.

7. Board Books
One of my favourite baby shower gifts is giving board books. Actually I give these instead of cards and write a loving message to the new baby in it. Moms need tons of board books, reading the same ones repeatedly gets tiring, so the new mom will need lots.
