Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy Wand Craft

Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy Wand Craft - Come check out Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy a great Christmas book with an accompanying Wand Craft to go with it. Perfect for toddlers & kids of all ages.

I chose to do Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy Wand Craft because my daughter loves this series of books.  Besides, wands are super fun to play with so I knew this would be great.  I also have a toddler son, who likes to be included in everything.  I thought I could have him do the craft too that way both kids would have fun and do something age appropriate.

Back to Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy Wand Craft, this is a great craft to do with any age of kids, you can adapt it to make it age appropriate for them.  For the little ones you will do all the cutting and tracing, then have them help with the gluing part.  My daughter was able to help trace and use the pen.  For my son I had him hold the template so I could trace around it, there is always a way to adapt a craft to make it fun for all ages.

Materials Needed

  • Georgie the Gingerbread Fairy book by Bugbird Tim
  • Construction paper and recycled cardboard.
  • Glue, scissors, marker, star template (I used a cookie cutter), paint brush, tape
  • Pom poms in Christmas colours of red, green, and white
  • 2 green pipe cleaners per wand

How to Assemble

  • Use the cookie cutter to mark out the shape of a star on the white construction paper.  Or draw free hand if you are good at it, which I am not.  Then cut it out and glue it on your brown piece of cardboard paper.14657513_10157775739695245_5767303453574340878_n
  • Cut out the cardboard around the star leaving some extra space.
  • Glue a selection of pom poms onto the star and let dry.

  • Grab the pipe cleaners, try to make the fun bow design on one then twine it with the other one.  Next glue it onto the back of your cardboard star, or tape it on (glue did not hold up to my toddler & preschooler waving it about!).

My kids had a blast running around and trying to make up magic spells with their wands.  They got destroyed pretty quickly with their vigorous play but it was worth it to keep them entertained for so long. We of course pulled out our Georgie the Gingerbread Fairies book so we could play with our new wand craft as we read.
