Date Night Challenge #5 Gaming & Appys

I asked my husband what he wanted to do for a date and his answer was game!  We set up an old school Wii gaming session on the Wii complete with tons of appetizers and kicked it old-school with Mario.

Romantic appy's and gaming? Best Date night ever! This one is for the hubby! Click To Tweet

Date Night Challenge 5 - Gaming & Appys - Are you ready for this month's date night challenge? An easy date you can do once your kids are in bed to re-connect and de-stress.

Supplies needed:

  • Gaming console, game, remotes (make sure they are charged or you have extra batteries).
  • Your favourite appetizers, we had egg rolls, samosas, mozarella sticks, jalepeno poppers, cheese, dipping sauces.

Method:

Husband ran out to grab the apps in the afternoon and I charged the Wii remotes.  I got the toddler down before he got the preschooler down so I got the apps in the oven and set up Super Mario Brothers for us.  I tried to make it a little fancier by putting a table cloth on the coffee table.

Once both kids were in bed we snuggled on the couch with the remotes and fed each other appetizers (had to put some romance into it).

We had a blast.  Yes we missed each other’s mouths sometimes and got sauce everywhere, but it was still tasty.  We got through world one and I used up all my lives once, plus he only threw me off a cliff once!

I definitely recommend it!

Going on a date with my other half have been a big challenge for us despite the fact that the kids are growing fast. The problem was always finding someone to look after the kids.

This Date Nights is indeed a brilliant idea and I will definitely be implementing some of them especially now Valentine is just around the corner.

I’m glad. I hear you on the babysitter front! And having kids is tiring, getting a babysitter, going out, I bet I would rather stay home so I can get to bed earlier, AFTER the at home date of course 🙂

We’re doing this for sure! We JUST set up our Wii for our kids after it had been put up since before kids. It’s nostalgic looking at our old Mii characters and remembering playing it as newly weds. Good memories make great dates!

I love this idea! Some of my favorite dates at the house happen over Super Nintendo games like Dr. Mario with my hubby. We’re not gamers per se in that we don’t have any new gaming systems or keep up with new releases, but we like to wipe the dust off our systems from our childhood days every once in a while!

LOVE this!!! Years ago, before we had our little one, we would play a scary video game together called Silent Hill. I would read the cheats/tips and my hubby would be the player (I was too terrified). Seriously, it was so much fun. I never thought about bringing it back for a date night!!

Date nights are so important for a relationship. My husband and I had regular date nights a few years ago but then kids got older and activities for them changed. I have 2 teens and 2 toddlers so the teens were our child care for date nights. We still squeeze them in about once a month.

I love this simple date night idea. My husband and I had a “real” date night recently and after dinner we hurried home to lounge on the couch and watch a movie…at home date nights are the best! Thanks for sharing at Welcome Home Wednesdays!

What a fun, nostalgic date night idea. It’s important to remember that date night should be about being together and connecting doing something you both enjoy. Congrats, you’re featured this week at the #ThisIsHowWeRoll Link Party on Organized 31.
