by Tiffany at The Good Enuf Mommy

IMG_9436

Tiffany says “It doesn’t just take a village to raise a child; it takes a village to raise a mom.”  She is so right.  I got chills reading her story as I can completely identify with it.  I rely on my own village heavily for physical help and emotional support.  I could not do this without them and I love how she shares her journey with us.

2.  A GIFT FOR SUPERMOM

I love this super creative Supermom Gift Box gift made by Alanya’s Creations.  What mom doesn’t need a reminder that she is a super mom?  Why not remind the mom in your life how awesome she is with some super mom inspired gear?

Erin at Stay at Home Yogi

How-to-Help-A-NICU-MOM (1)

This is such a great post from Erin.  I hope none of you have had to experience a NICU or supporting a friend who just went through labour and had to leave her baby at the hospital and go home without them.  It’s an awful thing to go through,  close friends of mine experienced this last year and I know there was not necessarily a lot to be done to help, but these tips are a great start.

5. DIY BABY BOOK GIFT

from Marie at DIY Adultation

DIY-Baby-Book-Gift

My baby Po just turned one almost a month ago, and I STILL have not even started his baby book.  Ooops!  Which makes this gift such an amazing one!  Who has time to themselves to do anything let alone scrapbook or fill out a book?  This pre-made baby book would make an amazing thoughtful gift for any mother-to-be.

If you have a teething baby you know that you will try anything to help make them feel better.  Luckily cold can really help them, I have seen a lot of different recipes for teething popsicles but I love how natural this one is.  A great way to soothe the teeth of a sore baby and distract them.

Love Love Love this quote that she uses in her article!

Instead, next time you bear witness to a mom on the verge of a parenting meltdown, instead of offering her a “to do” list, give her a hug – or at least a latte, and tell her she’s doing a great job.

Great advice on perspective for any mama.  What is your favourite parenting quote and advice?

4. Easy Fudge Series: Microwave Fudge Assortment for One by Anna at stuffed veggies

9.   Hummus Roasted Potatoes Recipe from Tanya at Lemons for Lulu

d8fc2d9207f4113c862f12d8b70d455dWe eat a lot of hummus, potatoes, chick peas, etc. In my house.  Being vegetarian it can be hard to get a lot of protein in, but if we don’t we get really hangry!  My toddler LOVES chickpeas and hummus, and black beans, etc.  I cannot wait to try out this recipe for my family and see how they like it.  I predict it will be a success though!

How-to-Kindly-Bring-Safety-Issues-to-the-Attention-of-Other-Moms

I am definitely of the mind that one should not interfere with another parent’s way of doing things, but if you think the child’s safety is seriously in jeopardy and feel you MUST intervene these are some great tips to use to approach the situation to ensure that your information is received in the best way possible making it more likely to be considered seriously.  How do you handle it if you need to talk to a stranger/friend/etc. about something that concerns you regarding their child?  Alternatively, how do you feel about other people approaching you with concerns?

3. How to Make Homemade Almond Milk from Fit Living Blog

6.  Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Centerpieces from Disney in your Day

8. An Open Letter to my Husband about Postpartum Depression from Mary from Martha

ppd

A great post all about the insides of postpartum depression and how it actually feels.  It can be hard for people to understand and identify, a lot of people think it automatically means you want to commit suicide or harm your children, but many do not exhibit those symptoms at all and this talks about a lot of the more common feelings and side effects.  A great read and very enlightening for those who do not know a lot about it.  Do you know the warning signs of post-partum depression and what you can do to help your friends and loved ones?

9. Stay at Home Mom Realities

from Danielle at Serene Mom

stajpejgspo

I love the Serene Mom blog, her posts make me laugh so hard and I feel I can really identify with her.  This post on life as a stay at home mom is spot on.  All I own are black yoga pants and leggings, I get Yo Gabba Gabba and Princess Sofia songs stuck in my head at 3 am while breastfeeding, I never started drinking wine or coffee before kids.  Now my favourite song “What time is it? It’s wine-o-clock! What time is it? It’s wine-o-clock!” sang to the tune of Bubble Guppies.   And please, yes only other SAHM’s get being tired, I have been up since 4:45 and likely will not be in bed or asleep before 11:30 and this is a common thing, going all day, tired and exhaustion is an understatement.  Did any of these strike a cord with you?

10.  The Teal Pumpkin Project

from Alexandra at Mom’s Bag of Tricks

Non-Food

This is an informative post about a new initiative for Halloween to make it more inclusive and safe for those children with allergies.  Anyone who posts a picture of a teal pumpkin in their window, or has one out front is informing the trick’or’treaters that they can safely trick’or’treat at this house and receive a safe non-food item.

In theory I think this is great.  I am not a big fan of giving all kids candy anyway, mainly because my toddler knows what it is now and I am not keen on her eating it.   Last year I made special toddler bags that had a little play dough in it and a Halloween-themed rubber duck.  BUT, I do not think it is always practical to make up non-treat bags like that.  First of all it is a lot more expensive, even buying at the dollar store you get a lot less and have to give more.  Also, nothing will appeal to all ages, you can’t very well give a teenager a few stickers and a pencil!  Does that mean you have to have age-appropriate bags and/or gender specific ones?  I feel it could be more limiting.  But I understand how kids with allergies still want to be included and receive a treat they can enjoy too.  What do you think?  Will you be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project?
